CFoR's Poppy Wall at Methodist Church

 Following great success of the 'Lest We Forget' Poppy sign at the War Memorial during last years Remembrance Day, Steve and Sally Ogborne have gone one step further. With the help from Dawn Prentice, Jackie Taylor and others , providing hundreds of bottle bottom they have built a fantastic Poppy Wall outside the Methodist Chapel.

A small team of volunteers have worked tirelessly to make a 14ft Poppy Wall made out of sprayed plastic bottle bottoms and installed outside the Methodist Church. The production team consisted of Sally as the artist, Steve as the fabricator and both of them producing the finished article in their garage. Graham Kiely helped erecti it.

Credit must also go to Caroline Hainsworth who provided a much-needed supply of ready to go bottoms and B&Q kindly donated paint and wire to enable the making of the wall, however, this couldn't have been achieved without the myriad of villagers and CFoR members collecting the bottles.

Steve Ogborne said "as for the idea, I originally made a small "Lest We Forget" poppy panel around the war memorial. Following which, Sally and I discussed doing something similar to the Weeping Window display at the Tower of London, a section of which we had seen at the Imperial War Museum".

As with the original displays each poppy has been hand crafted so no two poppies are alike.
