The Festival of Remembrance 2022 Update

The decorating of St John the Baptist Church where this year's Festival Service was held was co-ordinated by Jackie Taylor. A whole range of volunteers took place to mark this important event helping with the Poppy Wall and a range of fundraising ideas.

Special thanks to everyone who supported the Colsterworth Co-op, Colsterworth Truckstop and The White Lion in raising money by collecting donations from the sale of various items acknowledging the symbol of the Poppy. Also thanks to St John the Baptist Church for hosting the Coffee and Cake morning.

Jackie nominated the proceeds raised to be split between the Royal British Legion, St John the Baptist Church/Newton Project (who are the Custodians of the World Wars Roll of Honour) and the CFoR War Memorial Restoration Fund.

A special thank you to Freddie Tuilagi who made generous donations to the "Rugby Raffle" run by The White Lion. Debi Heath-French who organised the raffle, nominated the proceeds to SSAFA and CFoR War Memorial Restoration Fund.

It is also important we have the support of the Parish Council who donated Lamppost Poppies this year and arranged for the road closures necessary for the event to go ahead.

We have included some images from the day below courtesy of Cllr Ben Green, Jackie Taylor & Ellie Jennings.
